Successful Organizations Use Dashboards to Access KPIs

Study Reveals Successful Organizations Use Dashboards to Access KPIs iDashboards presents Aberdeenâ??s key results through visually rich, interactive dashboard technology

Troy, MI (October 17, 2007) –

iDashboards (www.iDashboards.com), the leader in Business Intelligence dashboard software, today announced that it has underwritten the development of a detailed business intelligence study by the Aberdeen Group. This landmark study, “Smart Decisions: The Role of Key Performance Indicators,” is the first of its kind to explore how organizations will “thrive or fail based on their ability to identify, define, track, and act upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).” iDashboards has taken the survey results one step further by embedding the survey data into a visually rich and interactive dashboard to help analyze and drill-down through the wealth of information.

To view the study results through a web-based, interactive dashboard visit: http://demo.idashboards.com/aberdeen/?guestuser=guest

For a complimentary copy of “Smart Decisions: The Role of Key Performance Indicators” visit: http://www.idashboards.com

The Aberdeen Group examined more than 350 enterprises in a diverse set of industry sectors for the study. The results show that businesses that embrace a KPI-based initiative are more likely to achieve Best-in-Class performance status, a label the report defines with six key performance criteria. Furthermore, the study reveals that 61% of Best-in-Class companies utilize technology tools such as dashboards to access KPI information, versus 49% of average companies and 37% of laggard companies.

“KPIs are the core of any performance management initiative and are a fundamental element in helping organizations prioritize the alignment of business activity with company activity. Organizations are increasingly utilizing dashboard technology, such as iDashboards, to easily leverage KPIs and act upon them in a timely and intelligent manner,” said David Hatch, research director of Aberdeen Group’s Business Intelligence Practice.

Exploring issues related to KPIs, the report delves into such topics as the process for KPI adaptation, the establishment of a culture of KPI use, the ability for technology enablers to access KPIs, and the use of KPI information to make better-informed business decisions. Finally, the study outlines step-by-step guidelines for companies in all stages of learning and development, from laggard to industry average to best-in-class, as to how to build an organization around a KPI strategy.

“We are pleased to be a part of this pioneering study for business management and decision makers who aspire to improve overall organizational performance,” said Shadan Malik, president and CEO of iDashboards. “By displaying the survey results within a dashboard, readers will better understand how effective data visualization will make the difference between information overload and information insight. Prompt access to KPIs will increase an organization’s ability to make timely and accurate decisions – ultimately increasing its chance for success.”

MicroStrategy Announces Availability of MicroStrategy Integrity Manager

Webcast Featuring MicroStrategy Integrity Manager Scheduled for October 18, 2007

McLean, Va. (October 02, 2007) –

MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) software, today announced the availability of MicroStrategy Integrity Manager(TM), a new product that tests the accuracy of BI applications by validating data and report integrity. Introduced as part of MicroStrategy’s latest software release in September 2007, MicroStrategy Integrity Manager automates the report comparison process and verifies the consistency of reports as changes are made to the BI ecosystem.

Despite the increasing importance of BI applications, BI support teams may fail to validate report and data integrity because the validation process is too labor intensive and time consuming. MicroStrategy Integrity Manager automates this process and identifies inconsistencies and errors, enabling business people to rely on the accuracy of their BI reports and analyses.

MicroStrategy Integrity Manager can detect, compare, and present inconsistencies in reports caused by changes in the BI environment. A BI system is composed of many technologies ranging from operational applications, ETL tools, DBMSs, BI tools, and server operating systems. These technologies are managed by different people including DBAs, ETL engineers, BI architects, BI administrators, BI developers, and system administrators. Any of these people can make a change that can cause an inadvertent error to be introduced in a report. With MicroStrategy Integrity Manager, data inconsistencies can be captured early in the development cycle, saving time in report testing, end user support, and issue resolution.

“MicroStrategy Integrity Manager reduces the need for resource-intensive manual testing, and automates regression tests for all planned changes in the entire BI ecosystem,” said Natalie Pikouliak, Business Intelligence Manager at Katz Group Canada.

“Integrity Manager goes beyond simple impact analysis, providing full regression testing for any number of potential system changes,” said Cindi Howson, founder of BIScorecard and author of Successful Business Intelligence: Secrets to Making BI a Killer App. “Integrity Manager will do before-and-after report comparisons to tell an administrator the impact of the change, warning if there are differences in the data values, if the SQL generated is different, or if the output format is affected. Not only will Integrity Manager tell you that there is a difference, it also highlights the differences in the numeric values, SQL, or display. Of leading BI vendors, MicroStrategy is first to market in providing such an important capability to managing enterprise-class BI.”

“MicroStrategy Integrity Manager reflects the company’s product strategy of providing industrial-strength business intelligence suitable for the entire enterprise,” said Sanju Bansal, MicroStrategy COO. “MicroStrategy Integrity Manager joins an array of other powerful administrative and security features within the MicroStrategy platform designed specifically to allow a small number of IS professionals to provide business intelligence to thousands of users across their company.”

MicroStrategy will host a Webcast on October 18, 2007, featuring demonstrations of MicroStrategy Integrity Manager and insights from industry analyst Cindi Howson. For more information on the Webcast, visit Click Here .

MicroStrategy Mobile Delivers Business Intelligence to BlackBerry Smartphones

Webcast Showcasing MicroStrategy Mobile Scheduled for November 15, 2007

McLean, Va (October 02, 2007) –

MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) software, today announced the general availability of MicroStrategy Mobile(TM), a new product that delivers BI information directly to BlackBerry® smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM, TSX: RIM). MicroStrategy Mobile was included in MicroStrategy’s September 2007 software release.

MicroStrategy Mobile offers powerful features that enable business users to receive the same reports on their BlackBerry smartphone that they receive on their desktop, without the need for reformatting or retrofitting existing reports. Each user can design and save his own personal report preferences to ensure optimal viewing of even the largest reports on his BlackBerry smartphone. Reports can also be accessed while offline or when the BlackBerry smartphone is not within connectivity range.

“After evaluating building our own mobile solutions as well as other commercially available products, we found MicroStrategy Mobile to be intuitive and feature rich, and we plan to use it for a large deployment all the way up to our CEO,” said Len Nicolas, COO and CTO at Nygard International. “The fact that Nygard’s existing reports can be viewed on a mobile device without modification is a major advantage for both our Business Intelligence team and, more importantly, for the users. We are working on several different mobile applications for BlackBerry smartphones, and we anticipate that this will save us time and money. MicroStrategy has really set the standard on this one.”

“Today’s workers are on the go but they don’t want to leave their data behind,” said Wayne Eckerson, Director of Research at The Data Warehousing Institute. “Mobile BI technology is the next wave in advancing the delivery of analytical information to business users via wireless devices. Delivering interactive reports to BlackBerry smartphones and other mobile devices is the next step in making BI truly pervasive. MicroStrategy is on the forefront of this new wave with its latest release.”

MicroStrategy Mobile leverages the same security features of the MicroStrategy platform, as well as the security and connectivity infrastructure provided by the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. MicroStrategy Mobile dynamically optimizes the use of network bandwidth, based on the quality of the signal and usage by other mobile applications.

“In the development of MicroStrategy Mobile, we focused on making the user interface highly intuitive so that no training would be required,” said Sanju Bansal, MicroStrategy COO. “We also paid close attention to underlying issues of efficient memory management, data compression, security, and network bandwidth optimization to ensure that MicroStrategy Mobile would work well for mission-critical applications at high scale.”

MicroStrategy plans to host a Webcast, “Introducing MicroStrategy Mobile: Supporting the Data Needs of a Mobile Workforce” on November 15, 2007. The Webcast will showcase MicroStrategy Mobile and include demonstrations, insights from MicroStrategy customer Nygard, and commentary from a RIM representative.
